Your Support of the Landis Adult Day Services (ADS) Golf Outing Makes a Life Changing Difference for Older Adults

Meet Neil, a Landis Adult Day Services Client and Learn How You can Support ADS this June!

Neil grew up in Lancaster County and his passion for agriculture bloomed while working on his grandparents’ farm. After graduating from college with a degree in International Agriculture, he decided to serve with Mennonite Central Committee in Indonesia.

He worked in a very rural area among an isolated community of wonderful people. Neil learned Indonesian and then he also learned some of the local languages. While his main focus was teaching agricultural classes to the locals so they could successfully grow crops, he loved working and then eating together as a community afterward. He also met his wife there and they had two sons together.

After completing their term abroad, they moved to Illinois. It was hard adjusting to American culture, but they did it with their two young sons and continued working on a farm. After many years, Neil was diagnosed with a health condition that required them to move back to Lancaster, PA, to be closer to family.

“I began coming to ADS (Adult Day Services) in July 2025. Before that, I was home alone a lot. I like coming here. I like playing games and the staff here are wonderful,” Neil shared. “I can still do some gardening, but coming here three days helps me get out of the house and allows my wife to work.”

Perhaps you know someone like Neil who attends Landis ADS. Through the Landis ADS Annual Benefit Golf Outing coming up on June 3, you have the opportunity to support the individuals who attend the Landis ADS program. You can participate as a golfer, patron, sponsor or volunteer.
